Jim
Hildreth has been Organist of Broad Street Presbyterian Church since 1987. He
was Organist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra from 1988 - 2018 and played
for several seasons with the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra. Jim holds a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from the College-Conservatory
of Music of the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Sacred Music in Choral Conducting from
Southern Methodist University (Dallas). He has performed recitals the eastern United States, including Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in New York City, Forth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, and Methuen Memorial Music Hall in Methuen, Massachusetts. Jim enjoys exploring and playing the flute repertoire with his wife Valorie as Duo Celeste.
A Columbus native, Valorie discovered her passion for flute at the age of ten. She participated in the Columbus Cadet and Youth Orchestras, winning first place in the Columbus Symphony High School Division Competition her senior year. Valorie earned her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from the Eastman School of Music. Her education continued at Duquesne University, where she completed her Master of Music degree in flute performance. Valorie is a freelance flutist in Columbus, teaches private flute lessons and is a clinician in area schools. She performs with area musicians, including her husband, organist/pianist James Hildreth as Duo Celeste. This is a FREE concert.
