Jennifer Deans is passionate about helping people discover God’s relevance in their lives through discipleship. More than anything else Jennifer desires to lead people to a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ that radically changes their lives forever. She does this by intentionally engaging in the everyday messy lives of people and modeling a God centered worldview. She believes you can’t give what you don’t have, so she is committed to seeking Jesus moment by moment.
As a young girl, Jennifer (Sutton) Deans traveled across the United States in a green school bus, which her father had converted into a motor home. Her parents, Glenn and Kathleen, planted trees across the country for three years before settling in Pennsylvania, which she considers her childhood home. Jennifer is the middle child of siblings Jeremy, Joanna and Linda. Her wonderfully adventurous childhood continues to provide great sermon illustrations.
Jennifer graduated from Blue Mountain Academy in 1999 and proceeded to Columbia Union College where she studied Metropolitan Ministries, with a concentration in Theology, graduating in 2003. Hired by the Potomac Conference her senior year, she attended Andrews Theological Seminary, graduating in December of 2005 with a Master of Divinity degree. After graduation, Jennifer began working for the Potomac Conference Youth Department until becoming the Associate/Youth Pastor of the Vienna Seventh-day Adventist Church in July 2006 where she served until August 2012. While at Vienna, Jennifer was honored to be Ordained-commissioned by the Potomac Conference on July 23, 2011. In September 2012, Jennifer joined the pastoral staff of Community Praise Center as the campus Pastor for CPC-Dulles. Jennifer was excited and honored to lead the CPC-Dulles campus as they were planted as Living Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church on April 25, 2015. On September 15, 2017, Jennifer became the pastor of The Cornerstone Church of Seventh-day Adventists. She is excited to be part of all the amazing things God is doing as Living Faith and Cornerstone walk together in ministry.
July 9, 2006 Jennifer married her high school sweetheart, Kevin John Deans I. They had parted ways for eight years after which, through what could have only been Divine orchestration, Kevin spied her in the same small-town diner in Michigan, two days in a row. These just happened to be the only two times she had been in that restaurant during the entire two and a half years she had been in Michigan. Their renewed connection grew into the loving marriage and partnership in ministry it is now. To add to their wonderful life, Kevin and Jennifer had their son in 2012. Kevin John Deans II is a very creative, energetic and loving little boy that they absolutely adore. They call him KJ to make it easier around the house. Kevin is a partner of KFA Private Wealth Group, a financial advisory practice in Tysons Corner, Virginia.
Jennifer enjoys people and loves watching how God can take a simple get-togethers with her neighbors, friends and community and use them for life change. As she has been intentional about letting God use her life she has made the most amazing friends and been part of people discovering God in a way that is real and meaningful.
